Dear Residents,
This weekend, Atlanta is under a Winter Storm Warning from Friday, 7:00 AM EST until Saturday, 7:00 AM EST. A mix of snow, sleet, and ice is expected, with accumulations of up to 3 inches of snow and sleet, and up to one-third of an inch of ice. Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, may become slick and hazardous. Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs could cause widespread and long-lasting power outages.
To prevent potential plumbing issues during this cold weather, please follow these important steps:
- Open Cabinet Doors
- Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing. If you have small children, be sure to remove any harmful cleaners and household chemicals from these areas.
- Let Water Drip
- Let both hot and cold water drip from a faucet served by exposed pipes. Even a trickle of water helps prevent pipes from freezing.
- Maintain a Steady Temperature
- Keep your thermostat set to the same temperature during both day and night. Avoid turning the thermostat down at night to save on heating costs during cold snaps.
- Leave the Heat On If You're Away
- If you're planning to be away during cold weather, leave the heat on in your home, set to no lower than 65°F.
Stay warm and safe!
